Ramadan (otherwise known as fasting month) is a holy month for Muslims. For an entire month, Muslims fast in rememberance of self-control and abstinence. During this time, GPJHS students conduct a charity to assist those less fortunate. This year, the charity began on the 29th of May and ended on the 8th of June.

This year, we received 1120 kg. of rice and on June 9th, all donations were distributed to Panti Asuhan Aisyiyah and the neighborhood Kampung Dua. On this day, we were warmly welcomed by Mr. Muhammad Nurben, the representative of Panti Asuhan Aisyiyah. Mr Muhammad Nurben gave a short opening speech to welcome and thank GPJHS for our contributions. Following his speech, one of the Panti Asuhan Aisyiyah students read a passage from the Quran and explained its meaning to remind us all that, helping people is part of the Islamic faith and can make us wise in the ways of working with those less fortunate. It is this way we offer our warm charity and allow others to see the hospitality GPS has to offer.

We look forward to seeing you on our next charity event and please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions and considerations.
