Global Prestasi School’s Grade 9 students recently embarked on an unforgettable two-day field study, “The Future Through the Lens of Technology,” where they explored how tech is shaping our future. This adventure took them from immersive art installations in Bandung to the high-tech world of gaming and robotics, giving them an exciting look into creative industries and the fast-evolving realms of robotics and AI. Here’s a glimpse into the incredible journey!
Sudut Pandang Bandung: Art and Environmental Awareness
Kicking off at Sudut Pandang Bandung, students entered an art-filled world with an inspiring message. They explored Sudut Cerita, an installation by local artists that vividly illustrated humanity’s impact on nature. The exhibits weren’t just beautiful but also eye-opening, showing the delicate balance between human actions and environmental sustainability. Stepping into VR headsets, students were transported into scenes depicting environmental challenges, allowing them to see and feel the urgency of environmental conservation. Each student left Sudut Pandang with a renewed sense of responsibility toward nature—and a new appreciation for how art can inspire change!
Agate Academy: Inside the World of Game Development
Next stop was Agate Academy, a gaming paradise where creativity and tech intersect! Here, students stepped into the shoes of game developers, learning from real-life designers, programmers, and artists. Agate Academy’s team shared the magic and challenges of game development—from brainstorming the first concept to releasing the final product. In small groups, students got a taste of the teamwork, coding, and artistry required to make a game, inspiring many to dream about a future in gaming and digital creativity. For these students, the idea of creating a game went from a distant dream to an exciting possibility.
Robopark: The Future Unfolds
The field study reached new heights on Day 2 at Robopark, a place buzzing with robotics and AI! An initiative by SARI Teknologi, Robopark is part futuristic playground, part tech lab, where learning meets high-tech fun. The highlight of the day was the 13D Robot Simulator, where students sat in immersive simulators equipped with wind, mist, snow, and motion effects, giving them a whirlwind experience of robotics applications. The virtual scenes demonstrated how robots could support human life, from health care to space exploration.
After the simulator, students dove into hands-on activities, assembling robots and experimenting with simple coding. They engaged in workshops with friendly robots, learning how these mechanical marvels could recognize voices, move, and even respond to human interaction. The VR exhibits took them into the futuristic possibilities of robotics and AI, where every interaction sparked curiosity and excitement.
The exhibitions offered a window into how AI is reshaping industries, healthcare, and entertainment, and students got to see these technologies up close. Testing their skills in educational games and challenges, they had a blast while strengthening their understanding of robotics and AI. By the end of the day, many students could imagine themselves working in tech fields, inspired by the creativity and problem-solving skills they’d gained.
This field study, themed “The Future Through the Lens of Technology,” gave GPS’s Grade 9 students an adventure-filled, hands-on look at how technology is transforming the world. Whether it was experiencing environmental art, learning the ins and outs of game development, or diving into the realms of robotics and AI, students came away inspired and eager to make their mark on the future. The trip was more than just a lesson; it was a memorable journey that equipped them to think big, dream creatively, and imagine themselves as tomorrow’s tech leaders.
