Making Lanterns And Koko-Cici Competition, Enliven The Chinese New Year With Tolerance

10 March 2022

February 12, 2021 is celebrated as the New Year according to the Chinese calendar system. The year 2021 is the year of the buffalo according to the zodiac order that has been used since ancient times. As a school that upholds tolerance and diversity, SD Global Prestasi held a 2021 Chinese New Year celebration on Monday, February 15, 2021.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, this year's Chinese New Year celebrations are held virtually. However, this did not prevent the teachers and students from celebrating the event which was identical with red and lanterns. With a few adjustments, SD Global Prestasi holds virtual competitions. These competitions include:

  1. Coloring (Grade 1)
  2. Making buffalo decoration (Grade 2)
  3. Making lanterns (Grade 3)
  4. Making buffalo headdress (Grade 4)
  5. Making tangerine garnishes (Grade 5)
  6. Making tangerine tree decorations (Grade 6)
  7. The koko and cici contest (Grade 1-6)

The winners of each level were selected 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winners from each class, while the koko and cici competitions were selected by one pair at each level. The great enthusiasm continued into the evening at the peak event, a charity concert held by the entire academic community of Yayasan Harapan Global Mandiri which was broadcast live via Youtube. This event was also intended to distribute the donation that has been collected from parents and submitted directly to “Satu untuk Negeri” Foundation from TVONE. By holding this event, it is hoped that it can foster a sense of tolerance, respect for differences, and a sense of humanity in students.
