Conducting non-academic activities during the pandemic means going out of our comfort zones and being creative with the limited resources that we have. Global Prestasi Elementary School (GPES) collaborated with #GiveMore Community to give an online character building experience for the fifth grade students. This year, GPES chose “growth mindset” as the theme.
The event was carried out on February 2-4, 2021 from 09.00 AM - 04.00 PM, using Zoom Meetings. From day one, the students were already excited as they got to meet new coaches who were very insightful and fun. Some of the topics discussed during the session were growth mindset, power words, and forming new, better habits. The excitement continued to the second day, as the students participated in games and wore Hawaiian style clothes and matching virtual backgrounds.
At the end of the third day, students got to write the opportunity to write letters to their parents and were able to give it to them in person, as the parents joined the meetings for the last day. We hope through this experience, the students will always remember the lessons learned and implement it in their daily lives to become individuals with a growth mindset.
